Timing is Everything for Your First Photo Shoot

Deciding when to schedule your prenatal imaging session is one of the most important factors for achieving clear, beautiful images and videos. The best viewing experience depends primarily on your baby's size, the amount of amniotic fluid present, and the stage of development. Since our focus is on providing a stunning memory, we've outlined the optimal time frames for our most popular bonding sessions.

Early Bonding: Gender Determination (15–20 Weeks)

If your primary goal is finding out if you're having a boy or a girl, you can schedule your session quite early. Around 15 to 20 weeks, the baby is usually positioned well, and there is ample amniotic fluid, which makes it easy to confirm the gender.

  • 15-16 Weeks: Reliable for gender determination, especially for those planning an early reveal party.
  • Small and Active: During this period, the baby is small enough that we can get a full-body view, and they are usually very active!

The Sweet Spot for 3D and 4D Scans (26–32 Weeks)

For detailed portraits of your baby's face, those beautiful hands, and little feet, the late second trimester and early third trimester offer the perfect balance. This is the most highly recommended time to schedule your 3D/4D session.

  • Why 26-32 Weeks? The baby has developed sufficient fat layers by this point, which rounds out their features and makes their face clearer and more defined for the 3D rendering. There is also still plenty of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, providing the 'window' we need for crystal-clear images.
  • Before 26 Weeks: Features are often sharp but very thin, resembling a skeleton.
  • After 32 Weeks: While still possible, the baby often gets too large and crowded in the womb, making it difficult to capture a full, unobstructed view of the face.

Scheduling Your Premium HD Live Session

If you select our premium High-Definition Live Scan, the same rules apply as the 3D/4D sessions, but the clarity becomes even more crucial. We encourage strict adherence to the 28 to 32 week window for the most photorealistic results. Scheduling too late can result in the baby's face being pressed against the placenta or the uterine wall, which can make obtaining a clear image impossible.

Planning for the Unpredictable

Remember, every baby is different! Sometimes, babies are simply uncooperative—face down, tucked tight, or hands over their eyes. We always dedicate time and gentle techniques to encourage movement. We offer a complimentary rescan policy for our HD and premium packages, ensuring you get the beautiful view you paid for. Book early to secure your spot during this optimal window!
